Mandarin Class 中文课

Parent & Child 宝贝亲子班

For 1 to 2 years old
 
The class is designed for children and parents who aim to establish a solid foundation in Mandarin Chinese from an early age. We introduce speaking and listening skills through a play-based learning curriculum that incorporates activities such as singing, storytelling, arts and crafts, and other enjoyable exercises conducted entirely in Mandarin. Our goal is to assist your child in understanding the concepts related to their environment and the world using Mandarin Chinese. Additionally, our one-of-a-kind parent-child activities provide a fantastic bonding opportunity. Join us for a delightful and engaging learning experience!

Beginner Level 幼儿启蒙班

For 3-6 years old

This class is designed for students who are beginning to explore Mandarin as a language. They are complete beginners with no previous exposure to Mandarin. Our program follows a play-centered, theme-based learning approach. Each class incorporates songs, rhymes, dances, sensorial activities, and puppets to create an engaging learning experience centered around a specific topic. The primary focus is on vocabulary retention and comprehension. Children will learn Mandarin step-by-step, with a strong emphasis on developing their speaking, listening, and understanding skills, while also exploring Chinese culture.

Advance Class 汉语萌芽班

From 3 to 6 years old

We have designed this course for children who already have Mandarin proficiency at home or through school. Our aim is to facilitate a smooth transition to our Youth Class. In this course, we prioritize oral learning and employ interactive activities to ignite your child’s interest. They will gradually begin to recognize Chinese characters through reading and writing. Furthermore, we utilize more complex songs, stories, and group discussions to encourage children to actively participate, express their opinions, and engage with new topics in each class.

PinYin Class 拼音班

From 6 to 12 years old

This class is specifically designed to help students master Mandarin pronunciation and Pinyin, the Romanized system for representing Mandarin sounds. Throughout the course, we will focus on developing accurate Mandarin pronunciation using Pinyin as our guide. Students will learn the correct pronunciation of each Pinyin initial and final, as well as tone rules and tone combinations. We will practice through various interactive activities, including listening exercises, and conversation drills.

Students will be guided step by step, providing personalized attention to ensure each student’s pronunciation is clear and natural. Additionally, we will introduce essential vocabulary and basic sentence structures to help students start using Pinyin in practical contexts.

By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in Mandarin Pinyin, enabling students to read and pronounce Mandarin words with confidence. This class is a fundamental stepping stone to further Mandarin language learning, as it lays the groundwork for accurate pronunciation and comprehension.

 

Youth Class 青少年班

From 5 years to 12 years old

Bamboo Class     From 6 years to 12 years old

The Mandarin Bamboo Class is specifically designed for novice students with little to no exposure to the Mandarin language, whether at home or in a classroom setting. Our goal is to provide a fun and engaging way for students to develop their Mandarin skills. Each class incorporates songs, rhymes, dances, sensorial activities, and puppets to bring the focused topic to life. The primary emphasis is on vocabulary retention and comprehension. Children will learn Mandarin step by step, with a strong focus on developing their speaking and understanding abilities. The class also delves into conversations and explores Chinese culture. For older age groups, reading and writing components may be introduced as well.

Level 1 – Level 4

Panda Class     From 6 years to 12 years old

The Mandarin Panda Class is designed specifically for students who have prior exposure to the language and aim to achieve proficiency in Mandarin. To join this class, students should have at least an intermediate to advanced level of proficiency and be able to read pinyin. A comprehensive textbook and workbook will be provided to support their learning journey. The class emphasizes an academic approach to developing speaking, listening, reading, pinyin, and writing skills in Mandarin.

Cantonese Class 粤语课

Beginner Level

From 3 years to years old

Perfect for those new to Cantonese, this course introduces basic vocabulary and essential conversational phrases. Set off on your Cantonese adventure with fun games, songs, and stories that will have you giggling and grinning from ear to ear!

Intermediate

From 6 years to 9 years old

Camps and Workshop 沉浸营

Our Mandarin Immersion Camp offers a dynamic environment where children learn Mandarin Chinese through engaging activities such as arts and crafts, music, drama, and storytelling. Guided by experienced instructors, kids develop their vocabulary, sentence structures, and conversational skills while participating in cultural activities. This immersive approach boosts their confidence and makes language learning enjoyable and effective.

 

In addition to the camp, MandoKids also offers workshops throughout the year, focusing on traditional Chinese holidays like the Mid-Autumn Festival, Lantern Festival, Lunar New Year, and Dragon Boat Festival. These workshops provide hands-on learning experiences that deepen cultural understanding and enhance language skills through interactive and fun activities.

 

Children will make new friends, gain cultural insights, and build a solid foundation in Mandarin. Both programs are designed to create a memorable and enriching experience, fostering a love for the language and culture.

After School Program

For ages from 3+

MandoKids Kerrisdale After-School Program

MandoKids offers an enriching after-school program for children in Kindergarten through Grade 7. This program includes academic development, Mandarin learning, arts, theatre, and science. It provides individualized homework help, daily snacks, and outdoor play. Serving schools like Maple Grove Elementary, Kerrisdale Elementary, and Crofton House Elementary, the program operates from September to June, including Pro-D days and winter break. A school van service is available for convenient transportation.
